Vietnam: May 11-18, 2009

From May 11-18, we went south to Vietnam. Chip had a conference in Ho Chi Minh City for a few days, followed by a short family-beach-vacation in HoiAn. Our blog posting was delayed due to "internet problems" back in Beijing, and we just now got a work around up and going.

We had a pretty good time, too! Quinn asked if we could stay in HCMC "forever" (ironic, as Chip turned down a job there recently in favor of one in DC.)
The view from our hotel's rooftop bar:

While Chip was working, the boys and I went to DamSen Park, a big amusement park/zoo/lake place in the 5th District. The hotel doorman didn't want us to go, as he said it would be too crowded, but at 9am on a weekday, you don't have to worry much.
Outside the Orchid Garden. Will is asleep in the stroller. Photo by Quinn.
Inside the Ice Wonderland building. Like a miniature Harbin Ice Festival! It was so nice and cool inside compared to the outside!
Quinn, astride a fake dinosaur, shortly before our ill thoughtout boat ride into the Land of the Dinosaurs (lots of roaring and leaping, and dinos reaching into our boat with their teeth, and lowflying dinosaurs. It was a nightmare!)

Will, being all Gerber holding on to the handle of the airport shuttle bus.

Chip took a cooking class to learn how to make a fantastic banana flower salad. Now to find the banana flowers locally....

A fisherman near our hotel in HoiAn. The fog is on my camera lense, as the difference between our AC'd room and outside was extreme. This guy sat there for hours, smoking, fishing, and drinking Coke.
